I'm not much for virus humor, but that's funny. Have a good evening. |

I'm good. Not too worried about it considering we're all going to get exposed at one point or another. My point was last month, so I've got the antibodies...therefore, easy for me to say? |

With the poop kicking the economy has taken, many people are laid off and it will take a while before people are working part/full time again. I'm not sure how a lot of people can even afford to go ta hockey game or any sporting event (although hockey is probably one of the most expensive sports to attend). Could see half filled arenas for quite some time. |

Valid points. The virus has killed people and completely disrupted our country's economy, our personal finances and the way we live. Stay safe. |

It's going to be interesting not just for health concerns, but so many will be broke. |

I've been reading some promising news on therapies coming down the road pretty quickly. That being said, I doesn't sound like anything will come before fall with a vaccine in 2021. For me... I probably would not.
I have a feeling games will resume at some point in the summer once rapid testing is more widely available, but I believe sports will be played in empty arenas for most of this year. Players and owners are going to take a massive haircut since the NHL's revenue is largely attendance dependent.

I'll go to Flyers games. Flyers should give away at the door masks with the Flyers logo on them.... sponsored by Toyota, of course! |

Kevin Allen: Will you be ready to sit with 20,000 fans as soon the NHL starts?
Fans may be hesitant to sit in an arena even when the government gives us the "All clear" - Kevin Allen
I'm wondering how society returning to normal activities before a vaccine is developed is morally better than staying home now for the benefit of keeping case loads manageable for hospitals. Once enough of the population goes through being sick then the top doctors say it is more valuable to go back to full freedom of gathering in large groups and the lives of the vulnerable individuals will be less valuable than the cost to the economy? From the way I'm processing the situation is basically we can't go back to life as it was pre virus, until a vaccine is available, without at least realizing our actions are potentially responsible for killing people. Is the government going to allow people to make their own judgement calls on how much they value their needs over others well being? I'm not seeing a positive resolution without dire consequences for some, until the vaccine. Maybe I'm wrong or not thinking it through correctly. Edit: That being said, maybe I am responsible for inadvertently killing people already by possibly spreading other flu viruses and bacterias. |

Here is the cold hard reality. Pretty soon the decision is going to have to be made to open up the country for business again. This decision is going to have to be made before it is really safe to do so. We'll have no choice. A crashed economy is far more dangerous to the population and to national security than the virus ever will be. They can't just keep on letting the economy degrade indefinitely. With that being said, people still have free will. When will they feel comfortable interacting in crowds? Not for a while. |

It's simply a cold hard fact. If the US is thrown into a depression, the poverty that will result along with the despair will kill far more than the estimated 100K that the virus will. Of course that could also up the total for the virus. |

I guess it all depends on the definition of "before it is really safe to do so."
That 100k estimate could be way off if society opens up prematurely. It will basically start over again and repeat itself.
Sure there are a lot of people that currently can't work and will definitely need help. But at same time there's a lot of people today that can and will work from home. This will not be the same as the Great Depression.
As a person working from now there's no way i go out to events or restaurants until I'm very confident the virus is done. Not worth the risk.

You're right, it could start over again which is why it's such a difficult situation. They can't let the economy crash completely. There are too many people who can't work from home and are living pay check to pay check. Small businesses which are the lifeblood of any economy will be decimated. They'll have no choice. |
